MOOC in chemistry
ULiège's Department of Chemistry is also offering a MOOC, a free, open-access online course on chemistry prerequisites. It is entitled "Chemistry: open the doors to higher education!"
This MOOC helps you consolidate your basic knowledge of chemistry so you can tackle higher education courses with confidence. In addition to all the explanations covered with varied teaching methods and experiments proposed, numerous corrected exercises will enable you at any time to test your understanding of the themes proposed.
This MOOC is aimed at students preparing for an examination or entrance exam to study medicine, dentistry or other life sciences, as well as future students of chemistry, pharmacy, biology, geology or engineering sciences.
If you're planning to prepare in chemistry for the medical and dental entrance exams, this MOOC is particularly useful for reviewing the fundamental concepts that are important to master.
MOOC in Physics
This free, open-access MOOC aims to ease the transition from secondary to higher education in physics courses. Various high school and university teachers have been involved in the design of this MOOC. This online course is a complementary tool for students and teachers alike. It will also be a great help to students preparing for the entrance exam to medical and dental studies, enabling them to review the material at their own pace.
This MOOC is built around two major axes:
Firstly, it is based on alternative or erroneous representations, and other spontaneous conceptions, commonly encountered by pupils and students. In each sequence, students are confronted with their own representations and reasoning, so that they can identify any inconsistencies. The course is then linked as closely as possible to the learners' everyday lives. The course is based on and illustrated by a series of real-life examples. Several professional and amateur sportsmen and women were filmed during their training sessions and their practices were analyzed.
Initially, only the modules devoted to mechanics (kinematics and dynamics) are available. Over the coming seasons, the other modules will be added to the range, eventually covering the entire physics syllabus for the general sciences option in upper secondary education.
