A core curriculum focused on interdisciplinarity

The curriculum has been reformed to provide a truly global and interdisciplinary approach to public health. To better understand and manage population health issues, students∙e∙s knowledge and skills will includeepidemiology, biostatistics, research methodology, ethics, law, legislation and healthcare regulation. It is on the basis of this in-depth learning and these skills that appropriate intervention strategies will then be deployed.

The core curriculum has also been strengthened in the areas of leadership and management . Graduates will become daily ambassadors of change and innovation!

Options focused on health needs

The Master in Public Health Sciences aims to offer future∙e∙s students∙e∙s an individualized pathway close to their centers of interest. Given the diversity of issues specific to our healthcare systems, this2nd cycle training allows students to choose between 2 finalities and several options that will give a particular tone to each student's course.

  • The " Public Health Practitioner" finalization will enable students∙e∙s to deepen their specialization according to their personal and professional project by choosing 2 of the following 6 options: Epidemiology and Health Economics, Health Promotion, Environmental Health, Public Health Nutrition, Health Organization Management, and finally, International Health.
  • Only open to students∙e∙s with a Baccalaureate in Nursing and a specialization in EMS, OR or anesthesia. The " Critical Patient" finality will focus on high-level expertise highly targeted on specific knowledge and skills specific to the two key sectors of acute patient care: Perfusionand Intensive and Emergency Care. To this end, students∙e∙s will benefit in particular from the cutting-edge technology available in the Faculty of Medicine. Particular emphasis will be placed on techniques associated with medical simulation, which enables optimal practice in the management of the "Critical Patient".
  • Thanks to this Master's degree, the Faculty of Medicine, and more specifically the Department of Public Health Sciences, is joining the European training consortium to participate in the implementation of the Erasmus Mundus - Europubhealth+ Master's degree.

An organization compatible with a professional activity

The Master's in Public Health comprises 120 credits spread over two years, and is organized around an adapted daytime timetable. Classes are held over a minimum of 2.5 days a week.

Complementary courses are held on 1/2 day per week. Students on the complementary program will take all their courses over a maximum of 3 days a week.

Professionally active people (not employed as students) can benefit from:

  • a  reduction in their course load.
  • a congé-éducation paid by SPF Emploi under certain conditions.

Doctorate

After a 120-credit Master's degree, you can consider a doctorate. This is a professional course lasting around four years, corresponding to the completion of an original research project.
