Doctoral training

The doctoral training is a 60-credit course that the doctoral student must have completed and passed before being able to defend his or her thesis. It includes 3 categories: thematic training (15 credits minimum), transversal training (10 credits minimum) and scientific production (25 credits minimum).

This training does not necessarily include courses. Other activities can be valued such as a stay abroad, participation in a conference, presentation of a seminar, publication of scientific articles. The doctoral student may be exempted (credited) from a part of his or her training based on his or her curriculum vitae, but rarely from all of it.

Some examples of doctoral training activities:

  • Thematic training: Courses and seminars under the auspices of the doctoral school.
  • Transversal training: Languages, research stays, training courses, didactic supervision, etc.
  • Scientific production: Publication of an article as principal author, Guest speaker, etc.
